This is Kelley's mom, Chris, updating Kelley's blog with Kelley dictatig.
I was in ICU for 24 hours and I don't remember much which is probably a good thing. On Saturday I was given a room and was there for 4 days. I did not eat for 2 1/2 days. The dizziness and nausea did not make food appealing. The doctor said I had to get dizzier before I got better. Imagine that!!! On Monday Doctor Herzog spied on me and found out I could not walk without assistance so he made me stay until Tuesday. So now I am home and miserable. The Vicadin was 2 pills every three hours in the hospital and now it is one pill every four hours. Not enough for the pain but I have no choice. The nausea and dizziness continue. My earlobe is totally numb and I can't hear at all out of my left ear which is really throwing me off balance. But hopefully this will return soon. I go to Dr. Herzog to get stitches out on Tuesday of next week and then I don't go back to him for 4 weeks.
I appreciate all of the flowers, cards, gifts, food and prayers from everyone. Sorry I can't return all of your calls or texts but as soon as I am feeling better I will call. It is good to know that I have so many people thinking and praying for me.
Stay tuned....

more operation info
Everything is starting to settle in a little more. I have about 2 more weeks until the big day. I received my patient instruction sheet in the mail today. It listed things not to do after surgery such as: no running, no vigorous exercise(duh J ) , no lifting anything over 20lbs(Addison L ) for 4 weeks. No traveling on airplanes, no blowing my nose or sneezing with my mouth closed (Hummm). I cannot swim for my entire recovery (bummer, guess I will just have to get a nice tan, sitting by the pool J )
I will have the staples/stitches removed in about 10 days or so after the surgery.
I will experience dizziness and balance problems after surgery, and should improve as activity increases and becomes more normal. I have to have someone with me for the first few days of recovery at all times, in case of excessive dizziness and nausea.
Other then that nothing has really changed. I have had some really dizzy days, and other days are as normal as ever. I am just trying to stay strong and take it one day at a time. I honestly believe the power of prayer is keeping me going so very strong every day. God has his plan for me and I believe he will continue to hold me tight during this trying time for our lives. Thanks again for everyone’s support, hope and prayer, its is the most amazing uplifting feeling!
